Tom Ford Lip Color Shines launch

Tom-Ford-Lip-Color Shines

The genius that is Tom Ford brings us a new creation in the form of Lip Color Shines. These little beauties bridge the gap between a balm and a tint, for those of you that don’t want to rock a bold lip every day. Mr Ford himself says “Luminous, semi-transparent lip colour is seductive in a very kissable way” and who are we to argue with him?

There are ten carefully selected shades that span the spectrum of lip colour from peaches to pinks, nudes to reds to offer something for everyone. These deliver a sheer colour tint, as opposed to block colour, however you can build up the colour for a stronger effect if that is your preference, whilst gently moisturizing to keep lips in tip top condition. I love Chastity – below.

90’s Flashback: fashion revival

Dune Druksack £110 at House of FraserThe fashpack has gone mad for the back pack. From The Row’s $39,000 alligator skin version to Sophie Hulme’s minimalist black offering with gold hardware, the humble back pack is seeing a revival, alongside 90s staples including dungarees and tie dye.

This leather offering from Dune is a sleek and at £110 more affordable alternative to the Sophie Hulme, and works equally well for the office and the weekend. Otherwise a Fjallraven Kånken mini is still a good choice for style kudos – check out Amazon where you can pick one up for around £60

Finish off the 90s look with a Liam Gallagher inspired pair of Raybans or hit the charity shops for some original pieces (although steer clear of the cycling shorts).

Monochrome madness: River Island blouse

Monochrome has to be the biggest trend that has emerged for SS13. Ever since Louis Vuitton’s iconic show, which featured checks and stripes, monochrome has been the buzz word on fashionista lips.

Luckily for those of us without a the budget of a Russian oligarch’s wife, the High Street is abounding with the trend, from head to toe black and white stripe dresses to cute separates that can be paired with denim, leather and block colours. Look to Zara and Asos for affordable fashion forward staples.

RI BLack and white stripe blouse £30

I like this River Island stripe blouse which clashes stripes to add an edge to the trend. At £30, it won’t break the bank and will see through to AW13 nicely. Workable for the office, I  would pair it with a black leather mini and a statement red lip to take me to evening cocktails.

Will you be working monochrome?

Flawless Finish: NARS light reflecting setting powder launches

NARS Light reflecting setting powderExciting news for NARS fans and make up mavens as from the 1st February NARS are launching a new finishing product – a setting powder, available in both loose and pressed variations.

This new mineral formula has been designed to work with your make up, in particular your base and foundation to help your skin ‘shine through’ and help your foundation to last longer. To me it sounds a bit like a top coat for your face, which is a nice idea, reminiscent of Bare Minerals Mineral veil and the like.

Unlike make up products that claim to have anti-ageing effects, this uses a  Light Reflecting Complex to bounce light off the face, thus drawing attention away from fine lines and pores to soften and smoothe – a super charged translucent powder if you will. The added benefit of Vitamin E helps to prevent skin from drying out.

Sounds like a must-try product for beauty junkies, for those that prefer a low maintenance approach, I would save the cash for a more dynamic product.

I’m excited to see it hit the shelves on the 1st February, both formulas cost £25 and you can buy from their website here.
