I’m a big fan of Laura Mercier, and the concept of the ‘Flawless Face’ which is the foundation (excuse the pun) of her approach to make-up artistry.
I have not tried as many of her seasonal collections, or in fact her colour collection as I would like. When I have, I have been impressed by the texture, quality, and the wearability of the products, all of which seem designed to enhance the wearer and who they are, rather than create a mask or re-define.
This new launch seems to fit that mould, inspired as it is by ‘the spirit of light and movement’. Choose from pretty pink and neutrals, in the Crème Smooth Lip Colour, Lip Glacé and limited edition Nail Lacquer and Crème Cheek Colour (newly packaged). the Free Spirit Baked Eye Colour Palette and Eye Pencil are a little more adventurous colour wise, allowing you to build up colour to achieve a more trend led and directional look.
It’s a luxury brand, so prices start from £15.50 ranging to £30. As a collection it doesn’t excite me as much as some other colour launches of late, although I’d be interested to try the palette, and I imagine some of the other pieces eg Blush and Lip Colour would be welcome additions to many makeup bags.
Top Tip – get to a store and have one of her team apply the collection for you. you can learn so much by booking in with an artist – if you’re going to invest, it’s important to know how to use each product to full and best effect.
Available from this month here and nationally.
